Steer Place, located at 1202 E. Harding Drive in the City of Urbana will accept applications starting Friday, November 16, 2018, through Friday, November 30, 2018. Steer Place provides Project-Based Rental Assistance in 1-bedroom apartments to eligible households age 55 or older. Applications must be completed online at:

In order to encourage academic excellence and community responsibility among high school students, Public Housing Authorities Directors Association (PHADA) has implemented a scholarship program for graduating seniors who are preparing to enter college. PHADA will award three scholarships to deserving youth currently a participant with the Housing Authority of Champaign County:

HACC Office of Constituent Services: Community Problem Solving

The office also serves as a spokesperson for the agency to ensure the basic rights of fair and affordable housing; provides information regarding the housing authority’s vision and mission and current policies, procedures and programs; meets with community leaders and attends public meetings to discuss issues and concerns; and speaks for the department in resolving problems to effectively restore community confidence in the agency.


November 10, 2017—The opening of The Manor at Prairie Crossing was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on November 10, 2017. The Manor provides eighteen units of affordable housing serving seniors in the Village of Mahomet and represents HACC’s first development in the smaller rural areas of Champaign County.
