Qualified Staff and Involved Tenants

The Housing Authority of Champaign County (HACC) is constantly working to improve its developments not only for those who live there, but also for the citizens of Champaign County.  The Authority requires all residents to ensure that their apartments are clean and in good repair.  Housing Managers perform housekeeping inspections and work with residents to improve their housekeeping skills when necessary.  When repairs are needed, residents are encouraged to make maintenance requests in a timely manner so that small repairs do not grow larger. 

Residents will not incur charges for repairs that are normal wear and tear, but will be charged for damages done intentionally or caused by neglect.

General Repairs

To request maintenance service 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, residents of the HACC’s public housing sites may call (217) 384-6564.  During normal business hours the resident may leave his/her maintenance request and a phone number on the answering machine where he/she can be reached if he/she would like a return phone call. 

After hours and on weekends the answering service will pick up.  If the resident has an emergency, maintenance staff will be notified and will take care of the problem within 24 hours.  Work requested by residents has the highest priority and most requests are completed within one week.  Health and safety work items, such as inoperable smoke detectors and gas leaks, are considered emergencies and are completed within 24 hours.  HACC staff inspects each community at least annually to detect maintenance issues before they become costly repairs.  Maintenance staff work on these maintenance items throughout the year as time allows.
